Every now and then your Faery in residence gets approached by a curious producer wanting to interview me for an upcoming production that may or may not get funding….
It’s happens every single year for the last ten years, sometimes more then once a year! Only two of those enquiries ever bore fruition.
I filmed a documentary on mediumship for TG4 (an irish speaking to channel) , appeared on Ireland am and I actually think there was another tv show but the name has long escaped me.
I’ve never sought the media out as I’m aware it can be a very fickle bedfellow. More often than not I’ve turned down tv opportunities as unfortunately ,they tend to be the ‘treat you like freak of the week’ but have their overworked & underpaid assistant producers earnestly inform you that they have your best interests at heart.
I’ve turned down the opportunity to read for Kate moss and Sadie frost as it felt too rushed and last minute.
If I hear one more assistant producer tell me it will give me great exposure I will scream….!
Exposure doesn’t pay my bills!
You can pay for my time and if my content reaches a wider audience, that’s wonderful but I’m long past being charmed by the allure of being ‘seen’ by the greater public, for that carries both good and bad with it.
Such is life , but if I can have any control of the ‘exposure’, I would rather it be ethical & not compromised in its integrity.
That I’m sad to say , is why I’ve turned down more opportunities then said yes!
In the last two years I’ve shied away from the world of influencer shout outs.
Several of the FaeryTribe complained that while they were waiting two years for their sitting, seeing influencers popping up saying they had a reading with me served as a deterrent and not something they wanted to see me show on my socials.
Let me be clear that any influencer / celebrity client has always been on my own private time & dime. It has never impacted a paying client as they are my priority.
Funny thing is my celebrity clients were more than happy to pay as they get people wanting shout outs from them daily!
There was an amazing Emmy winning producer that was going to film a Netflix documentary and sadly the writers strike put an end to studio funding , but it had the hallmarks of it being a really cool show. That was one I was genuinely disappointed that it didn’t get to See the light of day!
I’ve signed more non disclosures then I care to talk about just in case these various tv shows / documentaries get funding one day!
Until then , my name will be kept in a file, in a filing cabinet…!
Whilst I’m incredibly grateful for even being considered , it saddens me that every Halloween, almost like clockwork I will get a call to do a segment in a dungeon , a haunted castle or be wheeled out as the ‘spooky’ seasonal guest!
Considering Ireland has such spiritual heritage , our roots are soaked with mythological lore. Mystics & seers, the wise woman are part of the irish psyche.
Sadly 800 years of oppression and religious persecution has turned the mystical into the cynical.
Yet, when the American medium Tyler Henry (life after death 2022) launched his series on Netflix it stayed in the top ten slot for weeks. Surviving death (2021) was also a wonderful fact based docuseries on the afterlife worth a mention.
There is a spiritual hunger for mediumship content and people genuinely want to be informed in a fair & balanced way about how us mediums work and why we do it etc.
Not only does this help those developing their gifts , it brings evidence of an afterlife to those that are actively grieving.
There will always be skeptics and those that do not believe. Indeed for those that believe no proof is necessary, for those that don’t , none is ever enough…..
My entire life is dedicated to the endless pursuit of that perfect message. To strive to be that conduit between spirit and the sitter.
It is that passion that drives me.
I truly am optimistic about the tide changing on what people want to watch. Streaming platforms are listening and I will be front row when more programmes of high quality about mediums will regularly be shown!
